Arizona Tax Legislation Changes

The State of Arizona recently enacted changes to the tax laws that went into effect September 24, 2022.  We have included an excellent resource prepared by Cavanagh Law Firm that summarizes the changes.

With vacation and short term rentals on the rise, below is one item that might pertain to many of you; however, please review the attached document to see if there is anything else that may raise questions in your situation.

  • SB 1168: Vacation Rentals; Short-term Rentals; Enforcement. Laws 2022, Chapter 343. Enacts penalties in the amount of $250 for the first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense for online lodging operators who rent or offer for rent a lodging accommodation without a current sales tax license number listed on each advertisement, including online lodging marketplace postings. Caps the penalties that local governments may impose, and that the Department collects, for regulatory violations relating to vacation rentals and short-term rentals.

If you have any questions as to how some of these legislative changes may affect you, please contact your tax professional.
