Information Needed for your 1040 Return
To prepare your 2020 Individual Income Tax return (Form 1040), we will need the exact amount(s) you received in Economic Impact Payment (stimulus payments) in 2020 and recently in 2021. Knowing these amounts will determine if you are eligible for any additional credits during the preparation process.
You may ask, how do I find the amounts I received? The following are a few options for obtaining this information:
- Provide IRS Notice 1444 for the first Economic Impact Payment and Notice 1444-B for the second Economic Impact Payment received, or
- Provide Bank statements (or printouts) that show the 1st and 2nd Economic Impact Payments’ deposits, or
- You can log in to your Federal tax account information at IRS.gov/account to view the amounts of the Economic Impact Payments received.
- If you don’t already have an account, you can set one up at https://sa.www4.irs.gov/eauth/pub/es_general.jsp
- This account will allow you to view these payments, download tax records, and other helpful taxpayer information.
Thank you for gathering this information for us, which will streamline your preparation process.
